Meet John

John Knotwell is a proven conservative leader, successful business executive, and dedicated family man running for Utah State Senate to uphold the values that make Utah strong.

John previously served in the Utah House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019, representing communities in southwest Salt Lake County. During his time in the legislature, he built a reputation as a thoughtful, results-oriented lawmaker focused on fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and government accountability. He served on key committees, including Business and Labor, Revenue and Taxation, Transportation, and Infrastructure & General Government Appropriations, and was selected by his colleagues to serve in Republican leadership.

Outside of public service, John has spent his career in the private sector as a business leader with experience in technology and the global economy. That real-world experience gives him a clear understanding of what it takes to create jobs, meet payroll, and keep businesses competitive without excessive government interference.

John Knotwell is running for State Senate to continue fighting for limited government, lower taxes, responsible budgeting, and the individual freedoms that define Utah. He believes government works best when it is transparent, accountable, and focused on serving the people, not itself.

John and his wife Jill live in Herriman, where they are raising their family. As a husband, father of five, and grandfather, John understands the importance of safe communities, strong schools, affordable housing, and an economy that allows families to succeed. In his spare time, you can find him enjoying Utah’s outdoors, attending his children’s numerous activities, tending his garden, or learning about the joys of being a grandfather.
